The Out of Hours podcast is back!
Season 3 is back. Episode one is with Polina Marinova Pompliano.
Hey everyone,
How are you this Sunday?
I normally only write every two weeks but you’ll hear from me a bit more in the coming weeks as I’ve just launched season 3 of the Out of Hours Podcast! 🎈
A bit about the show
For those of you who have been loyal listeners so far, and who have shared your thoughts and reviewed the show, I really, really appreciate it and thank you. It can be a quiet journey being a podcaster and you get a lot less feedback than you’d think compared to the number of listeners - so it really makes the work worthwhile when you know people are getting value from the show. Thanks again!
For those of you who haven’t heard the show, please do check it out!
It’s a show that’s dedicated to telling the stories of people who have grown a curiosity or side project into something much bigger. The guests are very different to one another, but they have one thing in common: they have given themselves permission to be completely themselves, to explore the things that light them up, and to build the things they think should exist in the world.
The guests on this season know that like everyone, they’re running out of hours and want to create things that should exist, say things that should be said, and build the life they actually want, before it’s too late.
Episode 1: Polina Marinova Pompliano
If you’ve not heard of Polina, and her business The Profile, I have a treat ahead for you! Polina is an insightful thinker, writer and creator of the well-known newsletter The Profile - a newsletter, which started on the side when she was full time at Fortune Magazine. She has since turned it into a paid newsletter, and her full time job.
The Profile studies the most successful and interesting people in business, entertainment, tech, sports, and more - with the goal of sharing lessons from the most exceptional people and business. It’s been read and promoted by people like Dwayne Johnson - “The Rock” - and Alexis Ohanian - who’s an investor and the founder of Reddit.
This episode is an essential listen for any online creators. We go deep into the details. We talk about how the newsletter started as a project for family and friends, why perfectionism kills ideas, why you should write for yourself not the audience, when to leave your job and what it’s like being in a relationship with two entrepreneurs.
I really loved talking to Polina, but more importantly I think she’s very generous in this episode with how much she shares - in both practical advice and information and theoretical ideas - for aspiring and current creators.
I really hope you enjoy this episode, and please do let me know if you listen!
